Most people we collect at Delhi's Terminal 3 have been travelling for fifteen or twenty hours from Canada, the UK, the US or Australia, and the last thing they want is to haggle at a taxi counter. Send us your flight number, and a driver from Jalandhar will be standing at arrivals when you walk out. From there it is roughly 375 km and about 7 hours to your door in the Doaba.
From touchdown to the car: what actually happens
We plan the pickup around your flight, not around a guess. This is how a normal international arrival goes:
- Before you fly: WhatsApp us your flight number, landing time, number of passengers and number of bags. We track the flight, so if it lands early or late, the driver adjusts.
- The day before: you get the driver's name, mobile number and car number on WhatsApp. Save the number; family in Punjab can save it too.
- After landing: immigration, baggage belts and customs at T3 usually take 60 to 90 minutes for an international flight, sometimes more when several wide-body flights land together. The driver knows this and does not rush you.
- Meeting point: the driver waits at the arrivals area outside the exit and will message you exactly where he is standing. Once you have your bags, call or WhatsApp him and walk out; he will come to you with the car brought round to the pickup lane.
- On the road: bags loaded, water in the car, and you are heading north towards NH44.
Domestic arrivals at Terminal 1 work the same way, just faster, since there is no immigration. Tell us which terminal is printed on your ticket.
Which car for an NRI arrival?
Luggage decides this more than headcount. A family coming home for a wedding or a long winter stay usually has two big suitcases per person, plus cabin bags and a few cartons.
| Group | Typical luggage | Car we suggest |
|---|---|---|
| 1–2 people | Up to 3–4 large suitcases | Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze or Toyota Etios |
| 3–4 people | 6–8 large suitcases | Innova Crysta or Toyota Innova |
| 5–7 people | Moderate luggage | Innova Crysta or Mahindra Marazzo |
| Large family or two families | Heavy luggage | 12-seater or 17-seater Tempo Traveller |
If you are not sure, send a quick count of bags and we will tell you honestly whether a sedan will close its boot. For most families landing from abroad, the Innova Crysta is the safe choice. Every car is air-conditioned, which matters in May and June when Haryana touches the mid-forties.
The road home: Delhi to the Doaba
Leaving the airport, the driver takes the quickest way out to the GT Road side, either through the city or along the KMP/UER side depending on the hour and traffic. Once on NH44 the route is straight and familiar: Sonipat, Panipat, Karnal and Ambala in Haryana, then across the Punjab border near Shambhu and on through Rajpura, Khanna and Ludhiana. After the Ladhowal toll you cross the Sutlej, pass Phagwara, and roll into Jalandhar.
Late-night arrivals often make the best time, because the Delhi exit and the Panipat stretch are clear. Mid-afternoon landings can lose an extra hour leaving Delhi. Fog is the other variable: from late December to January the drive can stretch well beyond 7 hours, and our drivers will slow down rather than push on blind.
The Murthal stop
Almost every passenger asks for it. The dhabas at Murthal on NH44 near Sonipat come up about an hour or so after leaving the airport, which is right when the jet lag hunger kicks in. Parathas with white butter and a cup of tea, a washroom break, and you are back in the car. If you would rather keep going and eat at home, just tell the driver; there is no fixed stop. Other short breaks near Karnal or Ambala are fine too.
Arriving home in the Doaba
We drop anywhere in Jalandhar city, whether it is Model Town, near BMC Chowk, Rama Mandi or close to the bus stand, and equally to villages around Nakodar, Kartarpur, Adampur and the rest of the Jalandhar district. Village lanes can be narrow; the driver will ask a family member to guide him on the phone for the last kilometre if needed. Drops to Phagwara, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur and Nawanshahr are on the same road and easy to arrange.
Tell us at booking if an elderly parent needs a wheelchair at arrivals or if you need a child seat; child seats are on request, so ask early. Tolls, state permits and parking are discussed and confirmed when you book, so there is nothing to sort out on the road.
Going back
When the visit is over, the same team can take you back to T3. Have a look at our Jalandhar to Delhi Airport return trip, which explains how early to leave for a morning or night departure. If you are flying into Amritsar next time, the Amritsar airport pickup is a much shorter run, and arrivals at Mohali are covered by our Chandigarh airport to Jalandhar service. Families planning several trips over one visit can read our guide for NRI families, and the full list of Delhi routes is on the Delhi airport taxi hub.
Book your pickup
You can book from abroad without an Indian SIM. WhatsApp or call +91 72680 42000 with your flight number, landing date, terminal, passengers and bags. A relative in Jalandhar can also call us to coordinate. We confirm the car and the quote in advance, then send the driver's details before you fly.
Questions people ask about this trip
What if my international flight lands late or immigration takes long?
We track your flight number, so the driver adjusts to the actual landing time. He expects immigration and baggage at T3 to take 60 to 90 minutes and will wait until you come out.
How will I find the driver at Delhi airport?
You get the driver's name, number and car number on WhatsApp before you fly. Once you have your bags, message or call him and he will tell you exactly where he is standing outside arrivals.
Will a sedan fit our luggage from abroad?
A sedan takes about 3 to 4 large suitcases. Families with two big bags each usually need an Innova Crysta or Innova, and bigger groups a Tempo Traveller.
Can we stop at Murthal on the way to Jalandhar?
Yes. The Murthal dhabas near Sonipat come up about an hour or so after leaving the airport and most passengers stop there for food and a break. Just tell the driver.
Do you drop to villages outside Jalandhar city?
Yes, anywhere in Jalandhar district including villages around Nakodar, Kartarpur and Adampur, and onward to Phagwara, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur or Nawanshahr.
Can my family in Jalandhar book the pickup for me?
Yes. A relative in Punjab can call or WhatsApp +91 72680 42000 with your flight details and coordinate the booking on your behalf.
