The road from Jalandhar

We take NH44 the whole way: Phagwara, the Ladhowal toll near Ludhiana, Khanna, Rajpura, across the Punjab–Haryana border near Shambhu, then Ambala, Karnal, Panipat and Sonipat. Most families stop for food at the Murthal dhabas near Sonipat. That is about an hour before Delhi, so it is a good place to freshen up before an appointment.

When to leave Jalandhar

• Morning appointment in Delhi (9-10 am): leave around 1:30 to 2 am. The highway is clear at night, and you reach before the office rush builds up.
• Afternoon meeting in Gurugram or Noida: a 5 to 6 am start works for most people.
• Avoid arriving between about 5 and 9 pm. The evening peak in Delhi and Gurugram can add an hour or more to the last stretch.
