From Gurdaspur, Amritsar airport is a straight run down through Batala: about 90 km and roughly 2 hours. It is the nearest international airport for the whole district, from Dinanagar and Dhariwal to Qadian and Dera Baba Nanak.
The Batala road, town by town
The car leaves Gurdaspur heading south towards Dhariwal and Batala, then continues to Amritsar. Batala is the busiest stretch; it is a large town with markets right along the main road, and in the morning and evening it slows everything down. Early-morning and late-night runs get through much faster.
Batala is also a pilgrimage town. Gurdwara Kandh Sahib, which marks Guru Nanak Dev Ji's wedding, is here, and some families like to stop for a few minutes on the way to the airport. Tell us at booking and we will add the time.
After Batala the road opens up through the Majha countryside. The airport is at Raja Sansi, about 11 km north-west of Amritsar city, and the driver approaches it from the outer side. You will not be stuck in the lanes around the Golden Temple. Tolls and parking are confirmed with you at booking.
Who books Gurdaspur to ATQ
- Families with workers in the Gulf and relatives in Europe, who fly out of Amritsar rather than make the long trip to Delhi.
- Army and ex-servicemen families, of whom the district has many, heading to new postings or visiting children abroad.
- Visitors to the district's religious towns: pilgrims who came for the Kartarpur Corridor at Dera Baba Nanak or the gurdwaras of Batala, and overseas visitors to Qadian, who usually fly in and out through Amritsar.
Pickup across Gurdaspur district
We collect from Gurdaspur city, near the bus stand and railway station, and from Dinanagar, Dhariwal, Qadian, Kahnuwan, Dera Baba Nanak and the villages in between. Pickups from Batala are on the way. For villages, a WhatsApp location pin is the easiest way to guide the driver at night.
When to start
For an international flight, plan to be at the terminal 3 hours before departure; for domestic, 2 hours. With roughly 2 hours of driving:
| Departure | Pickup in Gurdaspur |
|---|---|
| 3:00 am Gulf flight | About 10:00 pm |
| 8:30 am international | About 3:30 am |
| 12:30 pm domestic | About 8:30 am (allow extra for Batala traffic) |
For pickups from Dera Baba Nanak or Kahnuwan, start a little earlier, since these are off the main road. In December and January, fog across the Majha plains can be very heavy at night and early morning. We add at least an hour then.
Car sizes for this route
One or two travellers with standard luggage fit comfortably in a Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze or Toyota Etios. Families, or anyone carrying two check-in bags each, need a Toyota Innova, Innova Crysta or Mahindra Marazzo, which seat 6 to 7. For a pilgrim group or a big family send-off, there is the 12-seater or 17-seater Tempo Traveller. All our cars are air-conditioned.
Extra time in Amritsar
If your flight is in the evening, you can make the day count: darshan at Harmandir Sahib (allow 2 to 3 hours), or the border ceremony at Wagah–Attari, roughly 30 km west of Amritsar, in the late afternoon. The driver stays with the luggage and then drops you at the airport. Mention it when booking.
Coming home from the airport
Landing at Amritsar and going home to Gurdaspur, Qadian or Dera Baba Nanak? Share the flight number. The driver checks the landing time, meets you outside the terminal with your name on a card, and has you home in about 2 hours. His mobile number is sent on WhatsApp beforehand.
