Jammu to Amritsar Airport Taxi Service

Jammu has its own airport, so why drive about 215 km to Amritsar? Usually because the trip is international. Amritsar has direct flights to the Gulf and good connections onward to Europe, and for many Jammu families a 4 hour 30 minute drive to ATQ is simpler than a domestic hop to Delhi and a long wait for a connection.

The route, stage by stage

1. Jammu to Samba and Kathua. South on the Jammu–Pathankot highway through Samba and Kathua. Traffic around Jammu city and the Samba stretch is the slowest part of the day's drive.
2. Lakhanpur and into Punjab. The J&K–Punjab border is at Lakhanpur; just beyond it you reach the Pathankot area.
3. Pathankot to Gurdaspur. From the Pathankot side the car turns south through Dinanagar to Gurdaspur.
4. Gurdaspur to Batala and Amritsar. On through Batala, then to the airport at Raja Sansi, about 11 km north-west of Amritsar city. There is no need to drive through the city or past the Golden Temple area.

In total, plan about 4 hours 30 minutes in normal conditions. Interstate permits, tolls and parking are discussed and confirmed when you book.

Who takes this route

Most of our Jammu bookings are families sending someone back to a job in the Gulf, students heading abroad, and visitors who flew into Amritsar, travelled up to Jammu and Katra, and now need to get back to their international flight. Timing a long airport run

With 4h30 on the road, we build in a buffer. Our rule for Jammu pickups:

• International flights: reach ATQ 3 hours before departure, so start about 8 hours before take-off. For a 3 am flight, that means leaving Jammu around 7 pm.
• Domestic flights: start about 7 hours before take-off.
• Morning flights before 9 am: many passengers prefer to leave the evening before and stay near Amritsar, rather than start at midnight. If that suits you, tell us and we will plan the drop at your Amritsar hotel instead.
• December and January: fog on the Punjab plains from Pathankot down to Amritsar can be heavy at night. Add 1 to 2 hours.

Picking you up in Jammu

We are based in Jalandhar, so our car comes up to Jammu for your pickup. That is why we ask for bookings at least a day in advance. We collect from homes and hotels anywhere in Jammu city, from Jammu Tawi railway station, and from Samba or Kathua if those are on your way. Send a location pin on WhatsApp and a number that will answer when the driver calls.

Car choice for a 4-hour drive

On a long run, space matters. A Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze or Toyota Etios takes up to 4 people with moderate luggage. For families or anyone carrying big suitcases, the Toyota Innova, Innova Crysta or Mahindra Marazzo is much more comfortable over four and a half hours, with room for 6 to 7. Groups travelling together can take a 12-seater or 17-seater Tempo Traveller. All cars are air-conditioned, and the driver will stop for tea or a meal on the way if you have time.

Arriving at Amritsar, heading to Jammu

For arrivals, the driver waits at the exit with your name and tracks any delay; his name and phone number reach you on WhatsApp beforehand. Many NRI visitors stop at the Golden Temple first, then drive on to Jammu or Katra.
