Ludhiana sends more business travellers to Delhi airport than any other town we serve. Factory owners, exporters and buyers from the hosiery, cycle and auto-parts trades use this run as often as the NRI families do, and they usually want the same thing: leave late, arrive on time, and sleep or work in the back seat.
The road from Ludhiana
The distance is roughly 315 km and the drive takes about 6 hours, the shortest of the big Punjab cities apart from the Chandigarh side. Ludhiana is already on NH44, so after getting out of city traffic the car heads straight down through Khanna and Rajpura, crosses into Haryana near Shambhu, and runs on through Ambala, Karnal, Panipat and Sonipat. Murthal, just past Sonipat, is where we normally break for food and tea before the Delhi stretch. Near the airport the route depends on the hour; the driver picks whichever side is moving.
The slow part is often Ludhiana itself. Getting from Ferozepur Road or the old city to the highway at rush hour can take a while, so for evening departures we add a little time at the start rather than at the end.
Business trips and exhibition travel
Industrial travellers tend to fly out for trade shows and buyer meetings, often on short notice. A few things we have learnt from them:
- Pickups from the Focal Point industrial areas or straight from the office are common, with sample bags and catalogue cartons in the boot.
- Many prefer a sedan with a quiet driver so they can take calls on the way.
- Same-day bookings happen. Call us and we will tell you honestly whether a car can reach you in time.
- If your company needs the trip details for expenses, ask at booking and we will share them on WhatsApp.
NRI families and students
The villages around Ludhiana, towards Jagraon, Samrala and the Ladhowal side, have the same pattern as the rest of Punjab: sons and daughters in Canada, students leaving for study abroad, grandparents going for long visits. These trips usually mean heavy luggage and a midnight or early-morning flight from Terminal 3.
Matching the car to the trip
| Who is travelling | Suggested car |
|---|---|
| One business traveller, cabin bag plus samples | Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze or Toyota Etios |
| Couple or student with two big check-in bags | Sedan, or Innova if bags are oversized |
| Family of 4–5 with 4–5 large suitcases | Toyota Innova, Innova Crysta or Mahindra Marazzo |
| Extended family seeing someone off | 12-seater or 17-seater Tempo Traveller |
When to leave
For international flights, aim to be at Terminal 3 about 3 hours before departure; domestic flights need about 2 hours. With a 6-hour drive and an hour or so of buffer, a 2 AM flight to Toronto or London means leaving Ludhiana around 4 to 5 PM. A 7 AM domestic departure from Terminal 1 means a pickup around 10 to 11 PM. Give us the flight number and we will check the timing with you.
Pickup across Ludhiana
We collect from anywhere in the city: the Clock Tower and old city lanes, Ferozepur Road, Sarabha Nagar, the areas near Punjab Agricultural University, the bus stand and railway station, and the surrounding villages. If you are staying at a hotel for a wedding, the hotel gate works too.
At Delhi airport
The driver drops you at your terminal's departure gate and helps with the bags. If you are being received instead, he waits at arrivals with your flight details, and you get his name and number on WhatsApp before he leaves for Delhi.
Related routes
For domestic flights, Chandigarh is only a little over 2 hours away; see the Ludhiana to Chandigarh airport cab. Amritsar is about 3 hours and covered on the Ludhiana to Amritsar airport page. For meetings in Gurugram or Noida, use the Ludhiana to Delhi NCR taxi. Families in nearby Phagwara can see the Phagwara airport run, and all towns are on the Delhi airport taxi hub.
Booking a car
Business clients often just send a WhatsApp with the office address and flight time to +91 72680 42000; families usually prefer to call the same number and talk it through. Either way, the quote, tolls and parking are agreed before the car leaves, and we take bookings at any hour.
