Fatehgarh Sahib district is small but spread out, and the first question we ask a caller is simply where in it they are. Sirhind, Mandi Gobindgarh, Bassi Pathana and Amloh all sit within an hour or so of Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport (IXC). From the Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib area it is about 55 km and roughly 1 hour 15 minutes.
Pickup towns in the district
- Fatehgarh Sahib and Sirhind – the twin towns around the Gurdwara, the bus stand and Sirhind railway station on the main Delhi–Amritsar line.
- Mandi Gobindgarh – the steel and rolling-mill town on NH44, a regular source of business travellers.
- Bassi Pathana – a few kilometres from Sirhind, with an easy run across to the airport side.
- Amloh and Khamano – plus the villages around them.
For a village or farm address, share a WhatsApp location before the trip.
Sirhind to the airport road
The usual line runs from Sirhind towards Landran and the Kharar side, then down to the airport road near Aerocity. It is a short cross-country drive on decent roads. The slow points are the junctions near Landran and Kharar at office time, and the airport road in the evening. From Mandi Gobindgarh, the driver may go up NH44 to Sirhind first or take the Rajpura–Zirakpur road, depending on traffic.
Pilgrims landing at IXC
Many people who land at Chandigarh come straight here for darshan at Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib, the site linked to the martyrdom of the younger Sahibzade. The busiest period is the Shaheedi Jor Mela in late December, when the roads around Sirhind are packed with sangat and traffic is diverted in places. If you are flying in for the mela, book early and allow extra time for the last few kilometres. We can also combine the airport pickup with visits to other Gurdwaras; our NRI taxi service covers multi-day trips like that.
Business travel from Mandi Gobindgarh
The steel town brings a different kind of passenger: mill owners, buyers and engineers who fly in for a day of meetings and out again the same evening. For them we often do a split day: airport pickup in the morning, waiting or local running around Gobindgarh and Sirhind, then back to IXC for the return flight. Tell us the meeting addresses and the return flight time when you book, and we will plan the day so the evening drive back is not cut fine.
Timing for departures
Allow 2 hours at the terminal for a domestic flight, 3 hours for an international one (IXC has direct flights to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah). With a drive of around 1 hour 15 minutes plus a buffer, a 6:30 am domestic flight means leaving Fatehgarh Sahib at about 2:45 am. For an evening flight, give yourself more slack for traffic on the Kharar side.
Vehicles
A Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze or Toyota Etios carries up to 4 people and suits most business trips and couples. A family group, or anyone with several large suitcases, will be more comfortable in the larger MPVs, the Innova, Innova Crysta and Marazzo, which seat 6 or 7 with room behind for the bags. Sangat groups arriving together usually fill a Tempo Traveller; we have 12-seat and 17-seat ones. The AC works in every one of them, which matters on a June afternoon.
At the airport
For drops, the driver brings you to the departure kerb and helps with bags. For arrivals, the flight number is all we need to time the pickup. A WhatsApp with the driver's name and number lands on your phone ahead of the trip, and he will be outside the arrivals hall when you walk out.
Routes nearby
Neighbouring pickup areas for the same airport: Ropar, Patiala and Malerkotla, whose route runs through Sirhind. For every town we cover, see the Chandigarh airport hub.
Book a car
For a pilgrim group, tell us the head count and which Gurdwaras you want to visit; for a business day in Mandi Gobindgarh, the meeting addresses and the return flight. Then call or WhatsApp +91 72680 42000. Tolls and parking are covered when you book, and the quote is confirmed up front.
