Faridkot is a medical town as much as a district headquarters. Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Baba Farid University of Health Sciences bring in doctors, students and visiting faculty from all over India, and many of them fly in and out of Chandigarh. The airport (IXC) is about 200 km away, roughly 4 hours by road through Kotkapura, Moga and Ludhiana.
Who we drive from Faridkot
Three groups make up most of our bookings:
- Medical students and resident doctors going home for holidays or exams, often to states where a flight from Chandigarh saves a day on the train.
- Visiting faculty and examiners who land at IXC, need a car straight to the college, and fly back a few days later.
- Local families with children studying or settled in Canada, Australia and the UK, and relatives working in the Gulf.
We also see extra demand around the Baba Sheikh Farid festival in September, when relatives come back to town.
Where the driver collects you
Anywhere in Faridkot: the medical college campus and hostels, the university, the bus stand, the railway station, the old town around the Qila Mubarak, and the villages outside the city. Kotkapura, a railway junction just a few kilometres away, is on the way and is an easy second pickup. For hostels, tell us which gate you will come out of.
Night duty and exam rosters mean medical passengers often book at short notice or change times. That is fine; message us on WhatsApp as soon as your plan moves and we will shift the pickup. Patients' families who came to Faridkot for treatment and now need to fly home can also be collected straight from the hospital.
The road east
Faridkot – Kotkapura – Moga – Jagraon – Ludhiana, and from Ludhiana either Samrala and Kharar, or NH44 via Khanna and Sirhind, finishing on the airport road near Aerocity. The Kotkapura to Moga section is a busy two-lane road, so the first hour or so is the slowest part outside the cities. Ludhiana at office time and the Kharar or Zirakpur end in the evening are the other places that add minutes. The full trip is about 200 km and normally around 4 hours.
Planning the pickup time
- Start with the flight departure time.
- Take off 2 hours for domestic, or 3 hours for the international flights to Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah.
- Take off 4 hours of driving.
- Take off another 30 minutes as a buffer, or an hour in winter fog.
Example: a 10:00 am domestic flight gives a pickup of about 3:30 am. Students with exams the next morning sometimes prefer an afternoon flight, which means leaving Faridkot around late morning.
Cars for this route
For a single doctor or student with a suitcase and a backpack, a Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze or Toyota Etios is the practical choice, with space for up to 4. Families travelling together, or someone flying abroad with heavy bags, should book a Toyota Innova, Innova Crysta or Mahindra Marazzo, with 6 to 7 seats and a large boot. Groups of students heading to the airport together can share a 12-seater or 17-seater Tempo Traveller. Every car is air-conditioned.
Landing at Chandigarh
Give us your flight number and we will plan the pickup around it, not around the printed schedule. You will know who is collecting you before you fly, because the driver's name and number come through on WhatsApp, and he will be at the arrivals exit with time to spare. If you are a visiting examiner, tell us whether to drop you at the college guest house or a hotel in town.

Close to Faridkot we also run Sri Muktsar Sahib to Chandigarh Airport and Moga to the airport, and Bathinda cabs to IXC. For a Delhi flight instead, see Delhi airport taxi from Punjab, and for all IXC towns, the Chandigarh airport hub.
Reserve your car
Doctors and students usually just WhatsApp us on +91 72680 42000 with the flight, the hostel or ward they are coming from, and the bag count; families tend to call the same number and talk it through. Tolls, permits and parking are agreed with the quote before the day. The line is answered at any hour, and the form on this page works too.
