Tarn Taran to Chandigarh Airport Taxi Service

Tarn Taran is one of the longer runs we do to Chandigarh airport: about 250 km and roughly 5 hours. Most bookings come from Majha villages where families have relatives abroad, and from visitors who came for darshan at Sri Darbar Sahib Tarn Taran and are now heading home.

Pickups across the Majha villages

We collect from Tarn Taran city, the bus stand, and villages across the district, including the Patti, Khadoor Sahib and Goindwal Sahib side. Many village addresses are easier to find with a location pin than a written address, so please send one on WhatsApp the day before. If you are staying near Darbar Sahib, tell us and we will agree a point near the gurdwara where the car can stop safely.

Our base is in Jalandhar, about an hour and a half from Tarn Taran. For a night start, book at least a few hours ahead so the car reaches you on time.

The district has many households with sons and daughters in Canada, the UK, Italy and the Gulf. Departures are often heavy with luggage, and the whole family wants to come along to the airport. A Tempo Traveller lets everyone travel together and return home in the same vehicle.

Pilgrims

Darbar Sahib Tarn Taran, with one of the largest sarovars of any gurdwara, and the historic Goindwal Sahib nearby draw sangat from across India. Visitors who flew into Chandigarh often return there for their flight home, sometimes stopping at the Golden Temple in Amritsar on the way out.

Students

Young people heading abroad for study frequently fly on a Gulf connection from Chandigarh. Their departure day is usually the busiest one in the house.

The route south-east

The car first comes up towards Amritsar's side of the GT Road, then runs down the national highway across the Beas river, past Jalandhar, Phagwara and Ludhiana. After Ludhiana it takes the Samrala–Kharar road or goes on to Khanna and crosses at Sirhind, ending on the airport road on the Mohali side. Depending on where in the district you live, the driver may join the GT Road nearer Beas instead of going right up to Amritsar.

Checklist before you leave

• Leave about 7½ hours before a domestic departure and about 8½ hours before an international one.
• For a 9 a.m. domestic flight, that is a 1:30 a.m. start.
• In December and January fog, add an hour; the stretch between Amritsar and Ludhiana is often the worst.
• Keep passports, tickets and medicines in a hand bag, not in the boot.
• Eat before you leave or plan one stop; on a 5-hour drive the driver will stop near Jalandhar or Ludhiana.
• Share your flight number so the timing is built around it.

Which car for five hours

Comfort is worth thinking about on a trip this long. Two or three adults with normal bags travel well in a Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze or Toyota Etios. Families with elders or a lot of luggage should take a Toyota Innova, Innova Crysta or Mahindra Marazzo. Groups and seeing-off parties go in the 12 or 17-seater Tempo Traveller. Every vehicle has AC.
